Congratulations to Veterans World Championship Alternate VIC MINTON!

Victor Minton was named 2nd Alternate on the 70+ Men’s Sabre Team, designated to represent the US at the 2010 Veterans World Championships in Porec, Croatia this 2009-2010 season. Vic should be notified toward the end of the month if he will be needed for team participation.  Vic was the oldest sabre fencer to compete in a USFA National event during the 2009-2010 season, which wrapped up at Summer Nationals in Atlanta last week.  Vic was one of six medalists from Mid-South to end up on the medal stand during this National Championship event.  Other medalists from Mid-South included Joey Lew (X2!), Mason Erb, Ryder Darwin and Travis Clarkson.
Vic has fenced at several clubs throughout his fencing career  primarily with his two sons.  His older son, David Minton,  is also a current fencer and competitor with Mid-South.  Vic resumed his fencing participation after a too early retirement about a year ago.  He trains by taking weekly private lessons during morning club hours and has “eased” his way into classes and competition within the Mid-South community this Spring.  Vic fancies himself historically as an epee fencer, but decided to take up sabre at Mid-South since, “that what you do here.”  Congratulations Vic!
