2010 NC Division Pool Bout. Mid-South fencers represented well in the North Carolina State Games, with each of the club’s athletes finishing in the medal standings. The State Games is held every year in June, and is open to fencers from across the Southeast. In the Y12 Mixed Sabre, Tristan Manturuk took [...] The final Junior Progressive was held June 15th at the MSFC, and it was the strongest one of the season. All athletes stepped up their game, with great showing from the Y10, Women, and Veteran fencer categories. [...] Athletes from the MSFC have shown very well in the qualifiers for this year’s Summer Nationals, in both team and individual events. [...] If you’re new to fencing, there are a lot of moving parts to get used to, and the care of that equipment can be just as mysterious as the acquisition of it. Attached are two checklists prepared by MSFC’s Kate Clarkson: a checklist for pre-tournament equipment preparation, as well as a tool list for strip-side equipment care and repair. [...] Come celebrate the MSFC‘s third anniversary at our Annual Grand Open, scheduled for February 20th and 21st of 2010! There will be Open Sabre, Foil and Epee events, as well as youth sabre events. As is tradition, the club will host a gala final for the open sabre on Saturday night, followed by a reception. Both the final and the reception are open to the public, and the festivities start at 5:30PM. This event is part of the North Carolina points series, as well as a Junior Progressive Series event.
