Introductory Classes

Mid-South Fencers’ Club makes it easy to get started in this exciting sport!

Beginning classes introduce the fundamentals of the sport as well as promote coordination and overall physical fitness . Our skilled instructors use a wide variety of games, drills, exercises, bouting, and other activities to create a fun and challenging experience. Tuition for an eight-week session is $175. All necessary equipment is provided. Please come dressed in athletic clothing, wear toe covering shoes, and have a willingness to have fun and try something new!

Online Beginner Class Registration


Small group instruction is the most common type of instruction for learning the basic fencing moves.

New classes start all year-round on the dates and times listed below. If you have just missed the start of a class, please contact the club to register. Missed classes are easy to make up, adult classes are relaxed and casual. Fencing is a highly adaptable sport. Just let the instructor know if you have limitations you think we should be aware of.

  • Mondays 4:00pm – 5:00pm: Ages 7-10. Sessions begin August 29th and January 9th.
  • Wednesdays 6:30pm – 7:30pm: Ages 13-Adult. Sessions begin January 11th, March 8th, and May 3rd.
  • Wednesdays 5:00pm – 6:00pm: Ages 9-12.  Sessions begin September 7th, November 2nd, January 11th, March 8th, and May 3rd.
  • Saturdays noon-1pm: Ages 7-Adult/Family Class. Sessions begin September 10th, December 3rd, February 18th, and April 15th.

Adult classes are casual and fun, allowing slow integration into our mainstream practices. Many adults also choose individual instruction at flexible hours to help build confidence. Everything can be adapted, including intensity level.
