Introductory Classes

Mid-South Fencers’ Club makes it easy to get started in this exciting sport! Join a free intro class, take a summer camp, or sign up for a eight week introduction session!

Beginning classes introduce the fundamentals of the sport as well as promote coordination and overall physical fitness. Our skilled instructors use a wide variety of games, drills, exercises, bouting, and other activities to create a fun and challenging experience. Tuition for an eight-week session is $175. All necessary equipment is provided. Please come dressed in athletic clothing, wear toe covering shoes, and have a willingness to have fun and try something new!

Small group instruction is the most common type of instruction for learning the basic fencing moves.

New eight week classes begin year-round at Mid-South. If you have just missed the start of a class, please contact the club to register. Missed classes are easy to make up, adult classes are relaxed and casual. Fencing is a highly adaptable sport. Just let the instructor know if you have limitations you think we should be aware of. General class day and time meetings for this season are as follows:

  • Fridays 7pm – 8pm: Intro to Medieval Longsword, ages 14+.
  • Mondays 4pm – 5pm: Intro to Fencing, ages 7-11.
  • Tuesdays 8pm-9pm: Intro to Fencing for Adults, ages 13+.
  • Wednesdays 5-6pm: Intro to Fencing, ages 9-14.
  • Saturdays 3-4pm: Intro to Fencing, ages 8 – Adult.

Adult classes are casual and fun, allowing slow integration into our mainstream practices. Many adults also choose individual instruction at flexible hours to help build confidence. Everything can be adapted, including intensity level.
