The 2016-2017 competition season was an exciting one for Mid-South Fencers’ Club. We had great representation at the Summer National Championships in Salt Lake City, Utah in July. We’re proud of how everyone fenced and are excited to start into the new season. Congratulations to the Carl BADGER who, for the second year in [Read More]

Badger on VET World Championships

Carl introduced himself to our fencing community as a fencing parent, but after the kids headed off to college, Carl got busy training. Read about Carl’s recent experience at the Veteran World Championships… Going to the Veteran World Cup in fencing is (I hope!) not just a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, but it was memorable and a great experience. In some ways it did not differ much from a NAC or Nationals, at least in my event. The level of [Read More]

The event holds memory to William Ryder Darwin, a [Read More]

Winter Roadtrips and Bringing Celebrations Home

March madness is just around the corner! But, February, in the sport fencing world, was packed… ACC Fencing Championships I haven’t been so excited about a championship event in my life ever. The expansion of the ACC to include teams outside of the Atlantic Coast has meant something good for fencing. Namely, the return of the ACC Fencing Championships after a 34 year hiatus. It excites me that Mid-South contributed fencers and spectators to this first event. I [Read More]

Coachmom

Half jokingly I refer to coaching my own children in our club as analogous to being a preacher and raising children in the church. All eyes are on the preacher’s kids during service and how they behave. No doubt coaches’ children faces similar scrutiny. Submerged in a fencing family there is no doubt my children will be greatly influenced by the fencing world. For this reason I pay close attention to factors that influence and support my children, including and especially my own reactions [Read More]

At the end of the weekend, MSFC qualified 15 athletes through our NC divisional qualifying path held March 1st and 2nd at Raleigh [Read More]

Priority On Youth #1, October 20, 2012

Thank you to all the parents, fencers and club members who made this first home event of our competitive year for youth at Mid-South successful! Most impressive was watching the youth working to support each other. Whether it was to help the newer fencers get warmed up, help with dressing out for the first time, working the bake sale, baking for the bake sale, refereeing or bringing in cans for the food drive, we appreciate [Read More]
