Congratulations to all the medalists from the 4th annual Grand Open tournament! [...] Junior Men's Medallists Junior Women's finallists Mason Erb won the Junior Olympic Junior Men’s Sabre qualifier, topping teammate Travis Clarkson, who came in second. Nathaniel Gass tied for third- all three qualified for the Junior Olympics in Dallas, TX, in February. In the Junior Women’s Sabre, Joey Lew gained the gold medal, with [...] Jordan Benge has qualified to fence in the Fencing Masters NYC event to be held at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York, November 17th. Jordan bested some of NC’s top sabre fencers to make the it to the gold medal bout, where he defeated clubmate Travis Clarkson 15-10. About Fencing Masters NYC: [...] Coaching Staff with two Div II Medalists The MSFC had a great seventh day of Summer National Championships, with three national medalists on the day. First, Joey Lew made her first medal stand by taking the Bronze in the Division III Women’s Sabre. In the Division III Men’s Sabre, Ryder Darwin [...] The final Junior Progressive was held June 15th at the MSFC, and it was the strongest one of the season. All athletes stepped up their game, with great showing from the Y10, Women, and Veteran fencer categories. [...] Athletes from the MSFC have shown very well in the qualifiers for this year’s Summer Nationals, in both team and individual events. [...] The Mid-South Fencers’ Club hosted the first event of the North Carolina season, with lots of great fencing and super camaraderie amongst club members.The event drew fencers from across the state and the region! The results are listed below… [...] Charlie Dobbins, Brendan Badger pose after receiving their respective 7th, and 5th place medals in the Division II Men’s Sabre event. Both had a great day, with Brendan finishing 6-0 in the pools, and maintaining his first seed, and Charlie finishing 5-1, and seeded 10th respectively. All three fenced solidly to get into the Eight, where Charlie and Brendan lost in the quarterfinal. Brendan and Charlie become Mid-South’s second and third national medalists this year! Charlie and Brendan are pictured with friend of the club and NC coach Jeff Kallio, who tied for third, becoming NC’s fourth national medalist this year.
