Southeast Sectionals Results

Brendan Badger and Charles Dobbins traveled to the USFA’s Southeast Sectional Championships on May 16th and 17th. The MSFC had great results, with three Bronze Medals on the weekend. Mid-South’s National Qualifying Season

The season for National Qualifying Events has come to an end, and Mid-South Fencers have not only taken the top spots in the state championship events, they’ve qualified for the National Championships in Dallas, TX, in July. The season has two events annually, the Youth Qualifiers, and the Senior Qualifiers. In the youth events, Mid-South qualified two athletes, Travis Clarkson (1st), and Mason Erb (3rd) in the Y-14 Men’s Sabre. In the Y-14 Women’s Sabre, Diana Philpot qualified with her third placed finish.

In the Cadet Sabre, Kaitlin Crenshaw qualified with her silver medal finish in the Women’s Sabre, and the Mid-South men swept the medals with Travis Clarkson (1st), Ryder Darwin (2nd), and Mason Erb (3rd) rounding out the top three.

Mid-South at NCFDP Open #1

Athletes from the Mid-South Fencers’ Club participated in the NCFDP Open sabre event September 14th, with great results for the start of the season! Seven fencers competed representing Mid-South: Jackson Bryant-Comstock, who finished second, Benjamin Badger, who was eighth, Travis Clarkson and Ryder Darwin who were twelfth and thirteenth respectively, Avonlea Bryant-Comstock, who was fifteenth, Mason Erb, who was twenty-first, and Claire Carson who was twenty-third. Mid-South at Raleigh Fencers’ Tournament

Fencers from the MSFC competed on Saturday, August 24, at the Raleigh Fencers’ Club’s “D and Under” sabre event. Claire Carson, James Dobbins, Jordan Benge, and Mason Erb all competed in this first tournament of the season,with great results. Mason and James both finished in the bronze medal round, and Jordan Benge took the gold medal. Claire placed sixth overall. [...]

Mid-South Results from Southeast Sectional Champs

Jackson Bryant Comstock is second from the left, Brendan Badger is second from the right.Fencers from the Mid-South Fencers' Club competed May 3rd and 4th, 2008, in Columbia, SC, for the chance to quailify for events at the USFA National Championships  in San Jose, CA in July.

Benjamin Badger surprised the field with a bronze medal at his first Junior Sectional Championships, finishing one round higher than his clubmates Jackson Bryant-Comstock and Brendan Badger, who took fifth and seventh places, respectively. Charlie Dobbins finished ninth in the men's event. Avonlea Bryant-Comstock took the silver medal in the Junior Women's event.

Avonlea Bryant-Comstock had a bronze medal finish in the Senior Women's event, qualifying for the Division I-A Championship in San Jose. Brendan Badger also had a bronze medal finish in the Senior Men's event, making the elite eight final ahead of clubmate Jackson Bryant-Comstock, who finished seventh. Charlie Dobbins and Benjamin Badger finished eleventh and twelfth respectively. Both Brendan and Jackson qualified for the Division I-A championships.

C and Under Sabre and Foil Tournament

The MSFC will host a C-rated and Under Sabre and Foil tournament on Saturday March 8th, starting at 10AM. The event will boast nationally-rated referees and a great location near food, coffee, and after-fencing entertainment. Preregistration can be done online. We hope to see you or your fencer there!
