WEEK BY WEEK:

JUNE

Our current Academy Class and Practice Schedule continues throughout the entire month of June.  Academy members, join your Academy Class for the Mid-South Academy Championships as each Academy Class competes to earn the most points for an end-of-season ice cream party. Competition day is Sunday, May 19, 2:00-4:00pm. Check in at 1:30pm.

Beginners are introduced to all styles of Olympic swords where they learn the basics of how to play the game.

June 10-14: Our first of two half-day afternoon camp this week off-site at Durham Academy. This Beginning Olympic Fencing Camp for rising 3rd-6th graders. Registration is on the Durham Academy website. Cost is $210 but discounted if you register for a morning camp too.

June 17-21: Olympic Fencing Full Day Camp (Beginner/Intermediate) – $290. Ages 8-16, 9:00am-3:30pm. This camp is great for beginners, newer fencers, and our current and past Academy fencers. We learn and practice Olympic-style sport fencing in an active and positive coaching environment. Our full-day camps also include team sports, book-time, board-game time, creative time and free play. We feel that it is important to balance rigorous physical activity with opportunities for campers to socialize with their peers and exercise their brains in different ways. 5:00pm late pick-up option is available for a one time fee of $50 paid at the beginning of the week. More info and registration is here.

June 24-28: Saber High Performance Camp (Competitive/Elite) – $425. Open to Y-14 – Div I competing athletes. Prepare for the Summer National Championships, set your goals for the 2019-2020 season, and have fun with your fencing besties! Don’t miss out! We welcome all folks planning to “go competitive” next year to join this camp or our Intermediate High Performance camp in August. We want to ensure that you feel prepared as we transition to prepare for the next competitive season. We meet from 9:00am-5:00pm with an 1.5 hour lunch break. More info and registration can be found here. Wednesday evening we will have our semi-annual potluck, senior salute and pinning ceremony.
