Introductory Classes and Lessons

Mid-South Fencers’ Club makes it easy to get started in this exciting sport!

Introductory to Fencing classes teach the fundamentals of the sport as well as promote coordination and overall physical fitness. Our skilled instructors use a wide variety of games, drills and exercises to create a fun and challenging experience. Tuition for a six-week class is $150. You can also opt to take six introductory 20 minute individual lessons (one on one with a coach) for $240 scheduled more at your convenience. All necessary equipment is provided you just need to come dressed in athletic clothing, wearing toe covering shoes, and have a willingness to have fun and try something new!

Fencing is a highly adaptable sport. Just let the instructor know if you have limitations you think we should be aware of.

2019-2020 Group Introductory Class Schedule:

Intro to Olympic Fencing: Ages 7 through 12, Mondays – 4:00-5:00pm 

  • Dates: Sept 9th- Oct 14th, Oct 28th-Dec-2nd, Jan 27th- March 2nd, April 27th-June 8th (no class Memorial Day).

Intro to Olympic Fencing: Ages 9 through 14, Wednesdays – 5:00-6:00pm

  • Dates: August 28th- October 2nd, October 9th-Nov 13th, Jan 8th- Feb 12th, March 4th-April 8th, April 29th-May 27th. 

Intro to Olympic Fencing: Age 13 through Adult, Fridays – 7:00-8:00pm 

  • Dates: Oct 4th – Nov 8th, Jan 10th – Feb 14th, March 13- May 1st (no class DPS Spring Break week). 

Intro to Medieval Longsword (must be 14 or older), Tuesdays – 7:30-8:30pm 

  • Dates: Oct 1st – Nov 5th, Jan 7th – Feb 11th, March 10th- April 21st (no class DPS Spring Break week).

Adult classes are casual and fun, allowing slow integration into our mainstream practices. Many adults also choose individual instruction at flexible hours to help build confidence. Everything can be adapted, including intensity level.
