Getting Ready for Post-Pandemic Fencing

March 15, 2021 by joldham Leave a Comment

Spring is here! We want to express our appreciation for how our community has supported one another during this pandemic year. Excitement around vaccinations and return to tournaments are accelerating our plans for return to indoor fencing activities. We are working continuously to finalize our programing and expansion plans. We anticipate navigating pandemic-type conditions for some time, but we will continue to mitigate risk and consult with experts as we take steps forward for our team’s evolution.

Click here for the current practice schedule.

For spring, we have created more in-person practices and reduced online options to two days a week. The next beginner sessions for Longsword and beginning fencing for youth and adults will begin in April. All classes are anticipated to stay on Wednesday evenings at the Stadium until baseball gets back in action mid-May. We have identified several indoor facilities willing to host us and currently weighing several options for our transition into viable, long-term club stabilization opportunities in our region.

You can register for new classes for yourself or siblings here.

Return to Tournament Planning

As you all know, this pandemic has essentially eliminated our ability to participate in inter-club competitions. USA Fencing has announced its national schedule last week, and as I write this post, I am enjoying watching the Budapest Saber World Cup. The NCAA and ACC have shown us the enormous undertaking needed to host a tournament safely this past winter. We have learned much in a year and will continue to observe and adapt.

As we evolve, we will continue to be transparent in our changes in order to help families makes the best choices for themselves regarding fencing participation. Please join us for two information sessions where Coach Jen will provide an overview of our summer transition and club vision for the 2021-22 season and beyond, including tournament planning:
